Rovers suffered their first league defeat this season as they lost 3-1 away to Bohemians in their last game before the break. They took the lead early on and pretty much controlled the game, but failed to convert couple of chances and were punished at the end as Bohs scored 3 goals in last 15 minutes. Rovers will be without couple of important players tonight as Kenna, Blanchard, Fahey, O’Connor and North are all injured while Michael Drennan is suspended. Fahey, O’Connor, North and Blanchard are all long-term injured so I they’re not such a big loss, I think. Actually, since Kiearn Waters and Gary McCabe replaced Fahey and O’Connor in the middle, Rovers have played much faster and scored 9 goals in two games before that match against Bohemians.
Galway themselves have few absentees. Central midfielder David O'Leary is suspended, but they could also miss Jason Molloy and Gary Shanahan who are currently doubtful. Goalkeeper Conor Gleeson has left the club during mid-season break.
When they first met back in April Rovers easily won 3-0. Meanwhile Galway were well beaten against all of the top four this season. Cork beat them 3-1, Pats 4-1 and Dundalk 3-0. Quality difference is obvious and hopefully we’ll see Rovers takes all three points tonight to keep the pressure on Dundalk and Cork City.
