Season 2016 started last week and Galway United claimed a surprise 3-1 victory against St Patrick’s Athletic away from home, while at the same time Bray went down 3-1 to champions Dundalk at home.
Both teams were involved in relegation battle last season and only two points separated them on the table, Bray finished eighth and Galway ended up tenth with just two points above relegation zone. Bray signed nine new players for the new campaign while similar number also left a club during off season. I’d expect them to be stronger than last season as they brought in experienced players like Ryan Brennan and Conor Kenna (both Shamrock Rovers), Dean Kelly (Longford Town) and Karl Moore (Bohemians), to name few. Bray will see this game as a good opportunity to take their first win. Hard game to pick the winner, but Bray surly have a lots of power to score goal or two tonight.
Galway United lost Jake Keegan who was their top scorer last season, but at the same time added experienced players such as Vinny Faherty (Limerick), Stephen Folan (Cork City) and Kevin Devaney (Sligo Rovers). They played really well last week, scored 3 and missed few more chances against Pats away. Galway played four preseason games and three of them went over (Galway Utd. 2-0 UCD, Galway Utd 1-2 Shelbourne, Longford 0-4 Galway Utd, Limerick 3-1 Galway Utd). Both teams will be without some defenders tonight. Galway have Byrne, Aganovic and Ludden all injured, while Bray have young Curtis Murphy suspended.
Bray and Galway have never played out a scoreless draw between themselves in any of their previous meetings in all competitions.
