There’s plenty to suggest this game could be tight in terms of goals. Rover’s last five games (including two Europa League matches) have gone under 2.5 goals while nine of Boh’s last ten games went under 2.5 goals. No wonder odds for over goals went up, but 2.61 for over 2.5 goals is just too high and surely represent some value now.
Bohemians last week’s game against Bray ended in 0-0 draw, Bohs played really well, created numerous chances, several one-on one situations, but somehow failed to score. In Akinade, Byrne and Quigley, Bohemians have few very good and experienced strikers and goals will inevitably come, soon or later. Couple of weeks ago they trashed St. Pats 5-1 at home and showed what they are capable off on their good day.
On the other hand Shamrock Rovers played 13 under’s and just three over games in the league this season, but it was during Pat Fenlon was a manager and he is well known for his defensive style of play. Fenlon however, was replaced after EL 2-0 home defeat to Finish side ROPS two weeks ago and former Rovers midfielder Stephen Bradley has been named as their new Manager. Speaking to clubs website ahead of tonight’s game he said “They [the fans] just want to see a team giving everything and playing attacking football and that’s what we’ll try and do”. So it seems we can expect more attacking Shamrock Rovers from now on and hopefully more goals.
It’s a big match for both teams and neither side will need extra motivation going into a derby game. With both side looking to get a win, hopefully this game should be entertaining from the off.
