Tuesday 08.02.2022 - Womens Sprint (Free Technique):
Winter Olympics Beijing 2022 - Cross-Country Skiing
Zhangjiakou Zone - National Cross-Country Skiing Centre
Event start: 09:00 CET (16:00 Local time)
Info: For the Sprint events, the 30 best skiiers advance from the Qual into the QF, SF, Finals stage.
My main favorite for the Womens Sprint is still Maja Dahlqvist (Sweden). She has won all 4 World Cup Sprints this season, and Dahlqvist and Jonna Sundling (Sweden) are likely to fully prepare for the Olympics the coming weeks.
In the Tour De Ski Sprints, momentum can change a bit though, and I like the chances for top Sprinters like Faendrich and Lampic to do well in tracks they normally do well in, the coming weeks.
Anamarija Lampic (Slovenia) ended 3rd at the Womens Sprint and in the Team Sprint in Dresden this weekend, and the Slovenian side did a heroic job after a fall early in the Team Sprint final, and still finishing 3rd in the end.
Lampic ended 3rd at the Womens Sprint at the World Championships in Oberstdorf 2021, and her final finish skills can take her all the way to the top at her best.
Nadine Faendrich (Switzerland) ended 2nd at home soil in Davos 2 weeks ago, shes clearly on the right path for the Olympic Sprint preparations, and the Swiss duo Van Der Graaff/Faendrich claimed the Silver medal at the World Championships in Oberstdorf 2021.
Shes normally more of a top 3 candidate than a winner candidate, but in top form, and with some luck, she sure can go all the way.
Rosie Brennan (USA) and Jessie Diggins (USA) are both very capable distance Skiiers, but they have also showed signs of being very capable at Free Technique Sprints this season. Brennan have reached the final in 2 of 2 attempts, and fell when being in the lead in her last Sprint in Davos (still ended 4th).
Diggins is the reigning Olympic Champion in Team Sprint, and the more demanding the track is, the more her chances increase for a medal, and possible win.
Be aware that both the Americans may skip the Sprint, as they will participate in a lot of events during the Olympics, but they sure are medal candidates/and possible winner candidates if they do start.
Unibet and Expekt offer these winner bets at the moment.
I will cover my Dahlqvist to win bets with:
Pick: Anamarija Lampic (Slovenia) to win, 4/10 stakes, odds 9@Unibet.
Pick: Nadine Faendrich (Switzerland) to win, 3/10 stakes, odds 9@Unibet.
Pick: Rosie Brennan (USA) to win, 2/10 stakes, odds 41@Unibet.
Pick: Jessie Diggins (USA) to win, 1/10 stakes, odds 61@Unibet.
Good luck!
